Covid FAQ’s

Answers to Your FAQs During the Covid-19 Crisis

Freshfields is taking the threat posed by COVID-19 extremely seriously and working hard to ensure we continue to provide all of the essential care required by the animals at our centres. Coronavirus has directly impacted the number of staff we have available at our centres to look after our animals and to provide veterinary care. As a result, our centres are closed to the public until further notice.

Are your centres still open to the public?

Freshfields is taking the threat posed by COVID-19 extremely seriously and working hard to ensure we continue to provide all of the essential care required by the animals at our centres. Coronavirus has directly impacted the number of staff we have available at our centres to look after our animals and to provide veterinary care. As a result, our centres are closed to the public until further notice.

When will you be opening your centres?

We will closely monitor Government advice on when to re-open to the public and will post updates here on our website and on our social media platforms.

Who is looking after the animals at your centres?

We can reassure you that sufficient staff continue working for all of our animals needs to be met. We have a wide variety of animals across our shelters and each continues to receive the treatment, care, love, play and interaction needed. Adaptations to routines in some areas have been necessary, our care of the animals however, has not been compromised.

How can I help? Can I come in to look after the animals?

Thank you for offering your support. Enough of our staff continue working to care for our animals at our centres, and we are currently closed to visitors to reduce exposure to Covid-19. The very best way you can help us continue to care for the animals is to make a donation. Freshfields receives no Government funding and needs your help to be here for the many animals in our care.

I'd like to foster a dog or cat for you in my own home?

Thank you for offering to help. Weโ€™ve temporarily suspended applications to foster NOW to minimise the possibility of exposure to covid-19. The very best way you can support Freshfields currently is by making a donation to help us continue to be here for every animal.
We will be desperate for foster families once the Covid-19 pandemic has passed, to be considered please complete the application form HERE or alternatively you can email foster@freshfields.org.uk.

I'd like to rehome one of your animals. Can I still do that?

We aren’t currently re-homing animals due to the coronavirus risk. However, we are happy to discuss any of the animals in our care with a view to re-homing once the current crisis has passed. You will find our contact details HERE. We do ask for your understanding that things cannot move as quickly with our current reduced staff numbers so it may take longer than usual for you to receive a response.

I've re-homed a dog or cat from you and I'm struggling with it's behaviour...

Please call the centre that you re-homed your dog or cat from and we will be able to advise.

I've re-homed an animal from you and need to speak to your vet about a medical issue.

If you were given a vet assist form when you adopted your pet, please telephone the shelter you adopted from and leave a message for the relevant unit (cattery, kennels etc) and a member of staff will call you back as soon as they can. If you have urgent concerns around the health of your dog or cat, please contact your local vet surgery for advice.

I've lost my pet and need advice?

Please visit our Lost Pets Resources where you will find information and support.

I need to bring an animal in to you. Can I do this?

Coronavirus has had a direct impact on the number of staff we have available at our centres to look after our animals and provide veterinary care. As a result, we have had to make a difficult decision to suspend all new intake until further notice. Please email reception@freshfields.org.uk if it is an emergency situation and need our urgent help.

I've found a stray dog/cat, can I bring it in to one of your centres?

Please contact us and we will advise you as to what you should do and whether we can help.
