Barney has a sweet personality and has come on in leaps and bounds during his time at Freshfields! He loves his mates and has truly blossomed lately, with his kind nature and charm shining through. He’s ready to take that next step and find a home of his own.

Barney is very bright and listens to us intently, taking things in and keen to learn. He’s interested in discovering new things and loves having a good sniff and mooch around. He’s a lot more confident than he used to be – when he wants his own space, he’ll let you know with his body language. He likes to play with his favourite toys, especially the almost indestructible Kongs – he has some serious ball-catching and dribbling skills and enjoys playing out on our Activity Field.

Barney’s initial shyness when he came to us stemmed from not being socialised in his younger days. With some excellent training and socialisation, he has overcome this. In a loving home, he will thrive and be a wonderful companion for the right person.

Barney is in good health and has no idea that he’s 13 years old. He’s a keen high-jumper and an active, healthy chap, always excited to be out and about.

Barney’s Ideal Home

A home with experienced dog owners would be brilliant for Barney. He will benefit enormously from structure and routine and we will give you all the advice you need about helping him to settle in. Treats are the way to Barney’s heart! Barney is not a fan of other dogs – he much prefers his human mates – and he likes a calm approach to life, doing things at his own pace.

Barney warms to human company, even if he’s occupied, doing his own thing. He’ll happily listen to the radio with you whilst you chill out on his favourite sofa. He’s a Greatest Hits FM Radio fan (other stations are available).
