Freshfields Animal Rescue
Last week, we were all heartbroken to have to say goodbye to one of our beloved long-term residents, Eros 💔Eros was an older gentleman, and had started to develop some concerning lumps and bumps. After a thorough health check, scan and blood tests, we received the devastating news that he had tumours on his spleen which had spread to his liver and kidneys.Sadly, there was nothing we could do but provide palliative care for Eros as the cancer had already spread. We wanted to make sure that he could have the best care possible in his last weeks. He enjoyed a couple more months of spending time with his favourite people, playing fetch on our field and going for trips in the car. His health and wellbeing were closely monitored, and he benefitted greatly from regular visits from his best friends, some of our dedicated volunteers, who he adored.Over the last few weeks, Eros suffered from some internal bleeding, which was difficult and painful for him. He was uncomfortable and lethargic, and began to deteriorate. On the advice of our vet, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully. He spent his last night cuddled up and cosy at home with his favourite person, Elaine.Eros was surrounded by people who cared deeply for him, and he was very much loved right until the end.We could not have given Eros the love, security, warmth and care without a great number of people standing right beside us. We would like to say Thank You from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone who has supported Eros over the years. He went to sleep peacefully and with us by his side.Run free Eros, you were such a good boy, and we will miss you ❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

Dexter was found as a stray, he appeared to of been neglected for some time before being dumped his nails were so long. We noticed him breathing quite heavily which is an indicator of pain. the vet found inflammation around his spine. He was prescribed pain meds & antibiotics & had an x-ray to see what the problem was. He had a spinal injury and broken rib, what this poor rabbit had gone through we do not know. www.freshfields.org.uk/hope/Your support today can keep the doors to safety open tomorrow for other animals like Dexter. Together we can create Hope for the Hopeless. Please give whatever you can. Every £1 you donate by the 8th December will be matched by our match funders. One donation has twice the impact. ... It was an absolute pleasure to have you and your team visit us, and see in person how the #PaulOGrady Tribute Fund will help us care for more abused, abandoned animals in the future. Thank you for your kind words, encouragement and confidence in us. We will do Paul proud Xx
