Chester
10 Jan, 2021

BACKGROUND AND PERSONALITY
Chester originally came into our care in November 2017 aged just 4 months old, he quickly found a new home but was returned to us at 8 months old as he was proving to be too big and boisterous for the family.
Chester spent 2 months in kennels before he was adopted again, where he stayed with that family for 2 years but was sadly returned to us in May 2020.
Chester is a playful boy and is very clever and eager to learn. We believe that he has a lot of potential and can excel with the right owner.

BEHAVIOUR AND MEDICAL ISSUES
During his time with us, Chester has struggled to form relationships with the staff. He’s a very insecure boy and can feel threatened easily, which can lead him to be defensive if he feels unsure.  For chester it is important he lives with someone who is experienced with large breeds and this type of behaviour, and can help him with confidence.  He has come a long way since being back with us but is still uncomfortable being handled too much so will need ongoing support with this.
Chester is a very big boy weighing in at 40kg and therefore he can be strong on the lead, but he has good manners and is working on slowing down and responding to his walker.
If Chester feels overwhelmed during his walks he can take his frustration out by ragging the lead.
Chester is in good health and does not have any ongoing medical issues,

TYPE OF HOME NEEDED
Chester will require an experienced and confident handler in a quiet, settled environment. He may suit living with one person whom he can form a bond with.
He will need an adult only home free from visiting children and with no children planned for the future.
Chester can be reactive towards other dogs in the kennel enviroment and we feel he will need to be the only pet in the home.

Chester’s new owner will need to spend several weeks visiting the rescue  in order to form a relationship with him. This will then progress into a slow introduction into the home so please do bare your location in mind before you apply to adopt him.
