A prolapse meant that Nellie was unable to be used for further breeding on the farm where she lived and as such she was due to be dispatched. A committed animal advocate was able to intervene and thanks to the powers of persuasion Nellie was allowed to live out her natural life with us as part of our small flock at Freshfields. It’s ironic how her medical condition resulted in her life being saved but we’re just delighted to have her here.

Nellie settled in quickly at the rescue and like all of our sheep is a prominent and irreplaceable part of the day to day goings on. She’s a beauty and a truly lovely girl. We were told she had a penchant for sheep nuts and an affectionate scratch on the head; both of which are certainly true.

For ways to help Nellie please check out the ‘Get Involved’ section of the website or consider donating feed via a local farm feed shop or our amazon wishlist. Donations of fruits, vegetables, hay and straw are also always very welcome.
